5.1. Methodological overview

The Master Degree´s contents will emerge through the proposal of real practical cases, in which the student may exercise in the identification of situations, events and problems and where it will be required to prepare the corresponding writings, in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal and Procedural legislation. On the other hand, in addition to demonstrating a rigorous knowledge of the legal texts of reference in the field of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, the student will also be compelled to consider the principles that structure the process and the legal theory of crime and must find the criteria provided by the jurisprudence. On that basis arguments should be developed to reach coherent solutions to the legal problems.

Case study methodology stands as as the main teaching methodology for the development of skills that students should acquire through this course.

The teaching methodology follows 'strategies' laid down in the memory of the Master Degree of the legal profession.

5.2. Learning tasks

Learning activities will consist in the resolution of problems and case studies proposed by the teacher in class. That implies dynamic activities of teacher and students, in which students will actively participate by exposing the solution of cases to the class, answering to the questions raised by the teacher, which will encourage the debate between the students to solve the legal problems posed. 

5.3. Syllabus

This guide follows the basic contents of the Criminal Law module, subject to which substantive criminal law and criminal procedural law issues will be developed, depending on the case in question.

1. Felonies against life.

2. Felonies related to bodily harm.

3. Felonies against sexual freedom and indemnity.

4. Felonies against privacy.

5. Felonies against honour.

6. Felonies against property and against social-economic order.

7. Felonies against the exchequer and the social security.

8. Felonies against the rights of workers.

9. Felonies againt the public health.

10. Felonies against the public administration and against justice administration. 

11. Habeas corpus, jury court; prison law; appeals

5.4. Course planning and calendar

The subject is annual and is taught in the period stated in the academic calendar published each year by the Rectorate.
